ABOUT ME

Yoga has been my passion for several years now, practising regularly for over 10 years, I discovered it by accident and straight away I noticed the difference from just a 60 min class and I became fascinated!

Yoga quickly became a regular part of my life. It began to be my go to. Whenever I needed to go inwards, to ground myself, to recharge, to unwind, to quieten my mind, to find peace or just to feel good - I hit the mat. Aside from that, as a runner at the time and also an office worker, I also noticed the benefits in my posture and from stretching out my muscles. My practise started to become more regular, until when visiting Mysore itself I developed a daily practise, being authorised later in India by my teacher and yoga master Vijay Kumar to progress to Intermediate/Second Series. Yoga practise every morning, 6 days a week has become like brushing my teeth - a regular part of my day.

In the end, just practising was not enough for me, I wanted to teach, so that I could pass on the benefits to others. I went to India, the birthplace of Yoga and studied my 200 hours teacher training at Sampoorna Yoga School in Goa, qualifying as a teacher of Ashtanga and Vinyasa, from there I completed my 60 hours teacher training in Yin Yoga.

Always a student, I have gone on to complete my 300TT specialising in Mysore Ashtanga teaching and have travelled to India to study under yoga masters in Mysore for one year, progressing to teach aspiring yoga teachers studying at Sampoorna, where I first learned to teach yoga. I will be going back to India once again this year, which will be my 9th yoga related trip to India. I am passionate about spreading all I have learned.

The benefits of yoga to my well-being, mentally and physically still amaze me and I am so grateful to be able to share this with others, by offering Yoga classes in Maidenhead, Berkshire and surrounding areas such as Henley and Marlow.

Looking to gain flexibility, tap into your inner peace, or just take time out for you? Get in touch and contact me. I look forward to seeing you on the mat!

Come practise with me!

Thursday 6:30 - 7:30pm, Maidenhead Community Centre

Free car park parking for all.

Suitable for all levels.

I teach both Yoga Sadhana and Yin Yoga. I practise both myself and am passionate about sharing these practises with others. Breath is a key component of all my classes, being the bridge between the body and the mind.

Candle Lit Yin  - is a deeply nourishing and gentle way to unwind, find some space and quiet and to tune inwards, releasing connective tissue, ligaments and fascia. We will release and let go, allowing you to leave the room replenished.

Yoga Sadhana - Also a deeply nourishing practise.

More dynamic than yin as postures are held for a shorter amount of time. I combine all the aspects I love and learned from my years practising.

We start typically with pranayama (breathing exercises) to calm the mind and focus inwards, followed by a warm up and sun salutations, then some standing and seated postures.

We close with closing prayer chanting that I learned in India, short meditation, pranayama and a restful Savasana.

This class focuses on the Tristhana Method (for details see dedicated area on this page), turning it from simple stretching to something more powerful; true yoga.

The goal of yoga is 'union' with the present moment. This calms your body, mind, and nervous system..ultimately, cultivating more peace.

£15 Per session

Pre booking essential. Please bring a mat!

THE MEANING OF SADHANA:

*Sadhana in yoga is a disciplined, spiritual practice aimed at self-realization, inner growth, and connection with higher consciousness. means a 'discipline to achieve a goal.' Sadhana (Sanskrit: साधन) is a Sanskrit term used to refer to a spiritual practice. Sadhana represents a disciplined surrendering of the ego, in which we use tools such as asana, pranayama, meditation and chanting.  Regular weekly attendance is therefore very much recommended, as best results are seen through regular practice of showing up on the mat to create time and space for the practise. I can then teach you the skills to practise at home safely in between classes. Come as you are, when you can, but weekly is recommended as a min if possible.

Trishana Method

The Trishana Method is a traditional and key aspect of yoga. It is the method of synchronizing breath, posture, and gaze in yoga. This is a fundamental aspect of Ashtanga Yoga, which is a systematized and disciplined practice. The Tristhana Method emphasizes the importance of breath, posture, and gaze in the practice of yoga, creating a harmonious and meditative flow. The three elements are as follows:

*Thank you to my teachers for this practise.*

                  Om shanti, shanti, shanti.

Ashtanga Half Primary Series Led Class Thursdays 6:30pm, Maidenhead Centre, free parking.

This class is currently no longer running, due to a shift to Yoga Sadhana and Yin Classes for now.

I learned to teach yoga because I am passionate about sharing this light wherever I can. I know that I am incredibly fortunate to have learned from the best teachers and travelled for and with my practice.

For this reason, I have decided to make a step to share this further. I can teach you a Mysore practice that  means you can learn the principles in class, then practice at home whenever you like, independently, like I do…you just need your mat.

Details:

- Half primary series 60 min class Ashtanga.

- Option of crib sheet to take home to enable you to practice independently when you are ready (small charge to cover cost)

-  Cost per class £15

- Please arrive a few mins early to get set up and bring a yoga mat.

What is Ashtanga?

Ashtanga Yoga is a sacred science that is extremely beneficial for the body, mind, and soul.

It will help to improve coordination, decrease stress, build strength and flexibility, eliminate toxins, purify the body and mind and burn fat. Ideal for office workers, many of the postures promote a healthy spine and back, easing aches and tension. You will build up internal heat in this class, so try to have a layer or two handy.

Each week we will follow a set sequence from the primary series, starting and ending with the opening mantra, then each movement will be synchronised with the breath, which can feel like a moving meditation for some.
